The Center for Transforming Lives’ team is closely monitoring COVID-19 and following all governing authorities requirements and suggestions. Based on the information from Tarrant County officials, CTL is classified as an essential service, providing both “child care for essential workers” and “basic necessities to economically challenged populations.” During Shelter in Place, CTL's homeless shelter and child care facilities remained open and operating at a reduced capacity.
Effective June 1, 2020, CTL increased operating capacity to better protect homeless women and children who depend on CTL for shelter and safety. All four of CTL’s Tarrant County child care facilities reopened at that time. CTL is following the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and CDC guidelines to protect children at each Early Childhood Education center.
As this situation develops, additional changes may be warranted. To stay updated, please refer to the Center for Transforming Lives Facebook page. For additional information or support, please contact us at 817-332-6191.
CTL is unwavering in its commitment to Tarrant County women and children experiencing poverty and/or homelessness — a population that is extremely vulnerable to this virus both financially and physically.
Before the crisis, mothers in our program were in the process of increasing their credit scores, building an emergency savings fund, and working towards financial independence. Now, many are teetering on the financial and emotional edge of stability. In response, CTL is modifying service delivery and launching the Relief & Recovery Program, to support all of CTL’s current clients and future families financially impacted by COVID-19.
CTL requests that families of any child enrolled, or interested in child care enrollment, read through this CDC Checklist and follow all guidelines to ensure community safety.
In this unprecedented time, CTL is experiencing a dramatic increase in need, particularly from the homeless families we support in apartments throughout the community. We need monetary support, hand sanitizer, and thermometers. Financial donations make it possible to provide food, hygiene items and basic support. You can consider donating to CTL’s critical work HERE.
For 113 years, the well-being of women and children who face poverty and homelessness has been CTL’s priority. We are unwavering in our dedication to their health and safety today.
CTL leadership is working closely with other social services agencies and the Tarrant County Public Health departments to maximize efforts and ensure the health and safety of as many community members as possible. For more information, please visit TCPH COVID-19.
