"I've always wanted to help and give back to other people as a thank you for the help that I've received during my most difficult moments. I want to be a resource for anyone who feels like they have no hope. I enjoy being a therapist and having the opportunity to assist and be part of my client's growth and improvements."

ABOUT AMARIS MARTINEZ
I believe that every person has experienced trauma that has been strong and intense enough to create dilemmas and severe symptoms over time. However, I faithfully believe in the inner strength that each person possesses. Also, in our extraordinary capacity, we all have to help heal ourselves.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I work from the holistic perspective of maintaining the utmost emphasis between cognition, emotional/feelings, and the physical/body and the continuous connection of these three areas of each human being.
My goal is to help my clients comprehend and understand the traumatized brain and the connection with the symptoms reflected in the body. I strive to provide trust, psychoeducation, strategies, support, exploring possible solutions, guiding, and giving space for the client to take autonomy in their healing process.
In every session, I meet the client where they are at that moment to create stability and purpose.
Theoretical models I most frequently use with my clients are Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), CBT & Solution Focused questions to create redirection, and I have recently received training in DBT and Play Therapy.
I possess a Professional Counseling Master's degree from Texas Wesleyan University. My undergraduate is in Psychology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. I plan to be certified in EMDR soon, and I am also interested in receiving additional training in Dissociation Identity Disorder (DID).
