A social enterprise is an organization or initiative that marries the social mission of a non-profit with the market driven approach of a business. Social enterprises maximize profits while maximizing benefits to society. They meet community needs for goods and services, generate revenue for the non-profit, create volunteer and employment opportunities, and generate awareness of the mission.
The Resale Shop has been a social enterprise of Center for Transforming Lives for 20 years! Clothing, household goods and furnishings that are donated are then sold through the store, located at 6500 Camp Bowie Boulevard. 100% of the proceeds from these sales are used for programs benefiting the women and children we serve. Plus, participants also shop here for clothing and items for their new homes.
Riverside Coworking will provide commonly needed business resources such as computers, a commercial kitchen, makerspace and audio/visual studios combined with free drop-in child care for parents who are on-site. Entrepreneurs can also take advantage of free classes and other events that encourage skills building, connection and community.
Center for Transforming Lives previously operated the Historic 512 rental venue in downtown Fort Worth. This social enterprise raised more than $9 million from 1989 until 2024, when it was permanently closed in preparation for our move to the new Riverside Campus headquarters.
