Homeless with two young children, Rebecca was trying her best to keep her family safe while staying in homeless shelters or on the streets. She knew she wasn’t providing her young children with enough, and she needed a job. But how could she work without childcare? Rebecca was struggling and couldn’t find a way out.
Fortunately, Rebecca found the Center for Transforming Lives Child Development Center, which provides full-day child care and education to eligible homeless children 6-weeks through 5-years-old.
The childcare program is possible in large part to an Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant awarded to the Center by the U.S. Health and Human Service’s Administration for Children and Families (ACF), which provides high-quality, early childhood development for infants to 3-year-olds living in poverty and homelessness.
