Center for Transforming Lives has an immediate opening in our growing Housing Services program for a full time (Saturday and Sunday, 4pm-12am) Residential Care Specialist.
Come be a part of an innovative team that is ‘building better futures’ by doing ‘whatever it takes’ to create success for women and children experiencing homelessness through an ‘in her shoes’ approach. The Residential Care Specialist has the primary responsibility to monitor Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing On-Site Residential (TH-OSR) activities. Support and assist program participants by applying a trauma informed approach. Monitor for safety and ensure building and operations security in adherence to applicable Policy and Procedure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a clear understanding of trauma and its impact on adults and children as evidenced by the implementation of trauma-informed care principles through the provision of services and decision-making.
Maintain open lines of communication with women served, the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Actively participate in MDT Meetings in the review of program participant strengths, needs, service plan goals, and program extensions as requested. Interface with building guests.
Maintain and update bulletin boards that include program participant chores, activities, refrigerator and laundry assignments on all residential floors.
Monitor supply closets on all residential floors; stock supply closets as needed. Order household supplies as deemed necessary.
Dispense and or properly store donations, cleaning supplies and other items provided for the participants and for the residential shelter programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED required. A minimum of one year experience in childcare and positive guidance of youth in a child placing agency, residential, or professional setting. At least one year experience working with women and families in crisis, people who are or previously homeless, and having knowledge and applying trauma informed care. In addition to working with individuals living with various mental health diagnoses and/or recovering from substance/alcohol abuse. Experience working in the social services field with knowledge about available community resources is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively articulate CTL’s mission, vision, and message.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management, staff, women and children, work independently with minimum supervision and maximum accountability.
Demonstrate cultural competency through the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people of various cultural backgrounds.
Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines.
Knowledge of Windows operating system and Office products. Ability to learn and use any other software programs needed in the operations of CTL programs.
Valid driver’s license.
